Top 5 Productivity Apps for Entrepreneurs

By: Jake

Entrepreneurs are notorious for being short on time and having to do more with less. Thankfully, in the past few years, a number of apps on the market have made it easier to get things done. As with everything else, the productivity apps that are truly great are few and far in between. We polled the Little Jack Marketing office about the favorite apps that help us get more done, and here’s what we found:

  1. Must: Jot ideas down before they fly away

After your seventh cup of coffee and with emails flying around everywhere, the idea of a lifetime (or, at least, the day) can come and leave before you know it. Having a place to jot down ideas quickly is absolutely crucial.

Winner: Evernote

Our winner here won’t surprise: Evernote is everyone’s favorite note taking app. But classic doesn’t have to mean outdated. Evernote wins because of its simplicity—an unobtrusive interface that’s there when you need it without making you think too hard.

  1. Must: Manage a packed schedule

Have you ever tried to schedule a call with a client, when both of you have busy schedules that are also changing with each consecutive email you send to one another?

Winner: Calendly

Calendly is a simple app that does one thing well: it shows free times in your calendar and allows clients to easily book the available times directly. So, to schedule an appointment, all you have to do is share the link with your clients, and leave the rest to them.

  1. Must: Stay in touch with the team

The modern office, whether you have a physical location or are working remotely, requires keeping in touch with a lot of people about a lot of different things, and keeping these conversations discoverable for later.

Winner: Slack

Slack hits the sweet spot between functionality (think: different conversation channels for different departments or clients, powerful search features) and fun (the app greats you with a new funny and inspirational message every morning). Last but not least, the Slackbot can act as your personal assistant, giving you or others reminders at predefined times.

  1. Must: Endlessly prioritize and re-prioritize tasks

Priorities change constantly as more information is discovered about particular projects. A good project management app will let you quickly update task lists and assignments as priorities change on the fly.

Winner: Appfluence

We’re just starting to use this app, but so far, its powerful task prioritization features are looking very appealing.

  1. Must: Keep passwords secure, stay sane

Try managing the websites of 180 clients and keeping them all secure without a password manager, and you’re going to lose your mind.

Winner: Lastpass

Even if you just have a few account passwords to remember, Lastpass will enable to you to remember just one password to unlock multiple accounts, saving you time and making it easier for you to follow password best practices for optimal account security.

No, none of these apps are paying us money to say this stuff. We just really like them because they help us get more done, and stay out of our way the rest of the time. Have an app that’s been a productivity game-changer for you? We want to hear about it—drop us a line to let us know.
